Rensselaer County eatery Village Pizza & Deli – located in the Village of Nassau at 2 Melden Street – will permanently close on Friday, May 10.
“After 12 amazing years, the time has come for our family to take on a new adventure,” owners Jim and Marsha Winters said on Facebook. “It is with both excitement and sadness that we share the news that we have sold Village Pizza.”
The couple told longtime followers that between now and closing day they intend to use up what they have in stock, with the menu slowly shrinking as they run out of supplies.
They went on to thank their “loyal customers and the community” for supporting the business over the years.
“It’s been a pleasure serving you.”
Village Pizza has several specialty pies, including the Deluxe, with pepperoni, mushrooms, peppers, extra cheese, onions, and sausage. There’s also a Meat Lovers, Buffalo Chicken, and Chicken Bacon Ranch.
In addition to pizzas, the restaurant serves an array of hot and cold sandwiches, salads, burgers, and appetizers.
News of the impending closure garnered hundreds of comments and shares on Facebook. Among them is one from Joe Chubb, who congratulated the couple on their sale.
“The next owners have some big shoes to fill,” he said. “By a mile your pizza has been our family’s favorite since we moved down here.”
“Amazing food and better people,” Kyle Poserina added. “Congrats and good luck on the new journey.”
